Our Membership

C.M.S. REACT takes pride in the fact that our members' come from various backgrounds.  Our members' range in age from 10 to 70 and have various occupations and interests outside of the team.  This variety of experience and insight among our members allows us to better provide our services.

While a lot of our team members participate in several different team activities, some of our members only participate in functions that interest them, and that's OK.  All we ask of our members is that they participate in our team fundraisers and try to attend our team meetings.  They may participate in what ever team functions that they choose to.  Our team members are never "pressured" into doing team activities they don't want to.

Membership Benefits

Members of C.M.S. REACT enjoy several different benefits by being members of our team.  For starters, all members receive a quarterly magazine called the REACTer.  It is filled with updates on what's happening in the world of communications as well as articles on what other REACT teams around the world are doing.  Secondly, team members are covered by insurance while participating in team activities.  This is a benefit that gives our members peace of mind should something happen while they are performing REACT functions.  Third, members’ receive discounts at Best Western hotels and K40 Electronics as well as on Budget and National car rentals.  By far though, the biggest benefit is knowing that you are helping people in your community.  Whether you are assisting in the search for a missing child or providing critical emergency communications after a disaster, your greatest benefit is knowing that you helped someone else out in their time of need.

Membership Requirements

To become a member of C.M.S. REACT, there are a few things that our team requires of you.  First of all, we need to conduct a background check on you.  This is done not only to verify your character, but as a common courtesy to public safety officials, as we often work with them at scenes that are sensitive or suspicious in nature.  Secondly, REACT International requires that all members complete the F.E.M.A. ICS courses of IS-100 and IS-700.  Don't worry, these are online courses that you can do on your home computer in a few hours.  Third, the team requires that you have a working cell or home phone, so we can get a hold of you when we are called to action.
